best way to deal with pins that have formed between casing and container?
    #3982852 - 03/28/05 11:04 PM (19 years, 4 days ago)

casing in baking tin has many pins between casing and tin. it seems like i may have to just let them grow but i dont know how well theyll do or if ill get aborts that will just rot. have never had to deal with side pinning like this so dont know how well things will go or the best procedure for dealing with them all. any help, suggestions, experience, and/or links will be greatly appreciated.

Place hvy casing mixture around edges - when you case. It helps prevent that. As casing fruits, it shrinks. Add more casing - around edges - as it does.

You could pop the whole casing out of the tin and place it on a plastic coated wire rack to raise it off the "ground". This would allow mushrooms to grow from all sides.

i know to fill in the sides and what not, but i cannot do that right now as the pins are already there and well developed.

Im broke and i dont think i have anything i can use as one would the wire rack.

i might be able to fit it into a larger chamber to fruit as a large planar cake. maybe ill get lucky and be able to fashion sonmething out of close hangars to raise it and let the bottom pin without problems. Theres a top and bottom casing but judging by the rest of the whole, the myc is prob holding the bottom together rather tightly.

any further suggestions?

Pick them all off...Next time put alumium foil around where they form (on the outside of the FC), that'll prevent light from getting there in such abundant and should help some...leaving them there = total rottage...

its a foil pan. i do not plan to leave them there for fear of rot like youve said. i will pick them if need be, but im kind of hoping to save them. ill prob just end up doing a cake of some sort.

any suggestions for making the raised plastic frame myself with household items and maybe some silicon sealant?

when that happens to me while using baking pans i just take the casing out, they are pretty sturdy. flip over the pan u where using and set the casing back on the pan(the bottom of the pan) works great for me.
