Aging...
    #3984087 - 03/29/05 05:22 AM (13 years, 28 days ago)

I was sitting in the train this morning, like any usual working day..
And I had a lot of room, then the next stop the train was filled with people and I was surrounded by old women. I believe in they're 50's 60's, they were talking like a bunch of chickens. And normally it would bother me, but I shroomed recently so that always softens me. So I turned on my headphones and started to listen to Pink Floyd (I'm hooked on the music now ).

My mind drifted off and I wondered how they saw the world. And how I would see it when I become older. Doesn't anyone else ever think in this way when they see older people?

Older people often have a better and more realistic view of the world because they have more experiance and knowledge. In our society it's often distorted by religion though.
I don't knwo if you had specific things in mind of how they see the world, but maybe next time when you meet old people you can ask them. It could lead to a good discussion

I have actually tried this before, but most people fear me.
And they are reluctant to speak to me, or respond very agressive.

So I don't do that anymore.  :smirk:

I dread change, but I often think what I'll be like when I'm older. At some point in my life, I've wished I was twenty-one.. wondered what I'd be doing, thinking, what I'd look like.

And now that all the years have passed I see the little kid I once was, skipping down the street with his brand new puppy watching the beautiful colors in the trees that I don't even seem to notice anymore. Despite his lack of vocal talent, he sings, and sings, and sings.

And there I am driving, listening to music (also Floyd) that wasn't even created in my generation, and Syd's gone. I wonder if he even knew some twenty-one year old, ignoring a kid singing songs to the trees in the autumn, would be rocking out to his music.

And if twenty years from now, someone asked what it was like when I was their age, I'd probably respond that it was pretty much exactly the same except the world was different.

I also once wondered how it would be if I was 18, because when you're 18 in Holland you may do all the things children may not do. But it turned out not to be all that special after all. All the wonder and fairytale visions of how life would be seemed to be wrong. Oh what a great fairyland we create for children, oh what a drama is it really after you grow up.

I told me son yesterday that we are all born to die, he was shocked..
But I explained it to him, and then we all went into a deep conversation about dying, beeing born and getting old. I guess the thought was still in my mind somewhere when I got on the train today.

Everything is possible, only not everybody is doing everything.

we get uglier, we get stupider, and we get unhappier.

then we have to wear diapers. Ah, the joys of life!!
