Yes, datura is active when dried. The seeds hold the highest concentration of alkaloids, but the entire plant is active.

Before even considering experimenting with this plant I would HIGHLY recommend reading ALL the information the Lycaeum and Erowid, reading many trip reports, and only then proceeding with EXTREME caution.

Datura is NOT fun and is EXTREMELY dangerous. The effects are best described as delerium. The difference between an active dose and a fatal dose is very small, and as alkaloid concentration varies a lot between plants you can never know how strong your plants are before experimenting with them.

Take care (I really mean it)

Phil

Here is the plant in question from zero. I can tell you right now zero, that you do indeed have a datura plant. Its not D. stramonium/jimson weed, and I'm far from a datura expert, but it looks like D. inoxia(sp?)

I'm not sure as to the exact specie of your datura, it looks to be Datura inoxia, but I don't think they are native to your area. Whatever specie it is, I can assure you it is definately datura, and it IS active. It will cause a day or two or three delerium along with what some people describe as "True hallucinations", its often so intense and overwhelming, that if you don't die of a toxic overdose of scopamine(sp?) you will wish you had.

Be careful, if used with great respect and with the right intent, it can be a very valuable teacher I hear. Read, read, read, and then read some more before you try this plant.

That is one sinister looking plant, just seeing it gives me the heebie-jeebies.

Bank Manager- "Mr. Simpson, before I can give you this buisness loan, what qualifications do you have?"

Homer- "Well... I can tell the difference between butter and I Can't Believe It's not Butter."

Bank Manager- "No you can't! No one can!"

i hate witty sigs / if anything i say has something in common with reality, this is a merely a coincidence.

I wouldnt eat it, from my understanding it is meant to be made into an ointment(flying ointment) then applied vaginaly or analy, hence witchs on broom sticks. But then who knows maybe eating it wont kill you.

Did you guys know that Datura was used in medieval times as poison - i think that it is Atropine or something that maeks you trip and die at the same time, but dont quote me on that one. I knew a guy who made a tea of a different type of datura with a long, bell-shaped flower, and he was never the same again.. He got a weird twitch, a lazy eye and just withdrew from society completely - he also had a strange way of walking around talking to himself from that time on as well...Apparently he was hospitalised in the end, as those sitting for him, got really worried at the third day...

It was said that using it would drive you permanently insane. Sometimes it was placed into food to kill people, if used in the right quantities it can definately killy you.

Yet another reason not to be my neighbor.
