Thin, whispy growth
    #3979559 - 03/28/05 11:02 AM (12 years, 19 hours ago)

Instead of mushrooms, tiny little white hair-like fingers are sprouting on my cakes. I've had a helluva time getting my humidity levels right, and I know if there is too much fuzz the humidity is too high, but I've never seen growths like this before. Any advice?

It sounds like rhizo fingers , the mycellum

So what does that mean? Too much humidity? Is there hope to save the cakes?

It usually does that right before it pins, so you're doing fine.

It's not just mycellum--I know what that looks like. It's longer. I thought it was stalks coming out, but now I see they are too thin.

no pic. They're about 1/4 inch long, thin white stalks fuzzy with mycellum.

Not a "cake". This is a casing cover - with rhizo popping up - PERFECTLY.
