I was just wondering if you lay a layer of damp perlite on the bottom of your terrarium, do you still need to proceed with a regular humidification technique??? and if so, i would like to hand spray mine, so any direction as to combining that with a damp perlite lining at the bottom would be greatly appreciated...

With cakes damp perlite should do

If the terrarium is well sealed you should see condensation on the sides

to also add to the question, would the damp perlite then do away with the need for a drip shield???

The drip shields main porpose is to not allow condensed water to form on the lid of your chamber and then drip onto your mushrooms. If you're not having any condensation problem's you can probally get by without a drip shield. I use one because I have Two airlines running into water jars and the shield stops the water from splashing on my babies.
