I found it on some grass in a area where someone dumps there old cakes and the soil was really rich too. location East Central Michigan. spores are black to dark purple.

Yes those mushrooms are Psathyrella velutina.
-also known as "Velvety Psathyrella".

They are indeed Edible mushrooms,
Season is June to September,
Found singular to numerous, in lawns,
and grassy areas; also along paths and in gravelly ground.
Widely distributed throughout North America.

Comments: This is edible provided that the area in which one collects it has not been sprayed or otherwise polluted.

Eating these mushrooms is risky..
