The purpose of patching a case.
    #3976142 - 03/27/05 03:46 PM (12 years, 30 days ago)

Could someone please give me an explanation on why it is important to patch casings?

I have a nicely colonized case, with a casing layer consisting of Verm and Coir the Mycelium has poked through on all areas and it is visible throughout the top layer of the case, I know people recommend patching cases but why?

Should the top layer of my case have visible mycelium or should it be completely covered with casing layers?

Thanks

layers or areas where the mycelium is coming through fastern than areas requires patching to give a chance for the rest of the casing to "catch up". The goal is to create an even layer of mycelium without overlay. If your casing is showing prefectly even mycelium growth then you don't need to patch.

ok cool so my case right now is fully covered with mycelium evenly spread, therefore I won't touch it.

Thanks for the advice.
