How to test your phylosophy and approach on life..
    #3973492 - 03/26/05 05:54 PM (19 years, 6 days ago)

Just my opinion here, bash it or add something new...

How do you know if your approach is constructive, positive and not based on temporary rebel crap in teenage years or middle age crisis, or just a way to escape yourself..

1. Does it bring peace to you and those around you?
2. Can you separate yourself in isolation for some time without feeling longing, feeling that you are trapped and that something is out there calling you
3. Do you fell that life is unfair, a curse given to you by birth?
4. Does the universe and nature make sense to you?
5. In practice of your philosophy, do others benefit from it equally as you do, or less, or more?
6. Does it apply for any man or woman in any situation?
7. Does it require special conditions, like a certain social status, wealth or natural abilities that not all have, like high intelligence?
8. Does it have enemies in the world?
9. Do you have unresolved fears?
10. Does it ask for anything or does it make you feel just as human and in your element while standing naked in the desert?
11. Does it takes sides in conflicts?
12. Can you get annoyed easily?
13. Do you accept your own death and death of your loved ones?
14. If your neighbor practiced this philosophy on you, how would you feel?
15. Does it involve growth and progress and at the same time does not remove you away from people around you?
16. Are you proud of it?
17. Do you feel good by knowing you have figured things out while others are ignorant?
18. Do you feel somehow special?
19. Do you have love for others?
20. Can you face yourself, be alone with yourself, do you ever feel alone and lonely?
21. Can you figure out which answers I was fishing for in the questions?

How do you know if your approach is constructive

how do you discern what your approach is? I mean, I don't know what my 'approach' is, other than, say, head-on. what's your approach?

Well Nietzsche knew what his approach was, otherwise he wouldn't writte books, Kant allso knew, and look at these forums, everyone is pushing their own views on life.

Maybe, But I like them. Great reminders of projects I'm working on my spiritual path. Sometimes it's a great help to break thing up into enough pieces so you can find your patterns. Especially for eternal beginners like me. Thanks for sharing. :mushroom2:

This seems to be asking questions about your personality and attitude towards others, not about philosophy.

My list.

-Are you thinking for yourself objectively through rational reasoning? Or are your own opinions just giving another's opinions with subjetive influence?
-Everything else follows after you've answered that in my book.
-End.

It is important because phylosophy can only be escape for some unresolved internal conflicts sometimes, a lot of times.
The nature and space around you works in perfect balance, because the universe is a big mathematical equation which works by a set of fixed circular rules. If you don't feel the perfection, it means you are out of sync, you are not properly tuned in, not paying attention.
Even though you as misleaded as you are have your place in that perfection, you do have a choice to see it or not. People feel bad when they work against themselfs. Peace is the perfect indicator of what is "in tune" and what is not. I'd say the most important of all those questions is the first one. Do you have peace?
If you are neurotic, it is because you can't fit in, you can't see patterns and rules, you don't understand and you are lost.

these questions have nothing to do with souls, afterlife, god, aliens or whatever. I see them as universal for any teaching, materialistic or not.
