Will a food dehydrator for drying fuits and herbs be too hot to dry shrooms with?

once upon a time... some fresh shrooms were placed in a ronco electric dehydrator, the shrooms were cracker dry in under 12 hours but most found them lacking of their usual potency. The air coming from the dehydrator doesnt seem to be that hot, but if you touch one of the coils you will be in for a suprise, it is to my understanding that these get well above 100deg F, so stay away from them.
