reminds me of a time when i saw a duck at the zoo in with the flamingos and the duck thought it was one of its pink cousins. he was sleeping standing on one leg head turned back while his fellow ducks layed there.

yeah! octopus are EXTREMELY intelligent... i saw a report on animal planet once where they put food in a normal glass jar and the octopus had figured out how to open the lid (twisting) in a time-span of 5 mins... after that every-time they put a jar in the same octopus opened the jar in a matter of seconds...
they also have awesome communication skills... they did the same jar trick with another octopus who hadn't seen how it works but who spent most of the time in the same tank as the first one... when they put the jar in the first octopus was also in the tank.. funny enough they didn't fight over it, and the octopus who had never opened the jar was able to open it in about a minute... (getting tips from the other one)
