a couple casing questions
    #3971150 - 03/26/05 02:21 AM (11 years, 8 months ago)

ok.. i have purchased a few syringes of cube spores.. and i plan on using the pf tek and casing them with horse poo/straw. ok .. here is question 1 . after i get to the point where the casing goes into the fruiting chamber...could i set it outside on my balcony . here where i live in ohio . it usually stays around 80 in the summer . so wouldnt that be ideal temps to fruit??

and now second question.. if i cant do that , can i take a spent casing and make a outdoor bed with it ?

thanks for the help

Well if you start now, they would be fruiting before the end of April. And April/May temps in Ohio range from 70-80 during the day and drop to 40-60 of a night, depending on whether you are near the lakes or down south. Will it be in a fruiting chamber or just sat out on the balcony? The late spring rains would be a bitch on the myc if not in a chamber.

Also, you don't case with poo. You spawn to poo and case with something that is non-nutrious, ie verm/coir.

If you are putting them in a fruiting chamber and keeping the humidity around 90% you should be fine, the temps won't hurt your casing. The low night temps may slow it down a bit though.

And yes, you can spawn an outdoor bed with it. Haven't done much research on cubes outdoors but they will last atleast one season.
