I have been working all sorts of jobs as of late, construction, landscapping, and a slew of jobs from the temp agency, and as of next week I have a full time job at a metal shop.
But I am going to leave it all in the dust....
Because I just got back from an interview at a greenhouse, and they want to put me in charge of their 7 million dollar operation I know, I cannot belive it myself
I would have a crew of employees, and while I would have to understand their work, I wouldnt have to grade and pick etc, I would be the BOSS(one of them, and when the other guy is gone, I would be the only one)
I would have to get a pager because if the system crashes in the middle of the night, I would have to be there, within half an hour, for that, I will get........
A high(salary based) wage...well over $12 an hour......I am not sure exactly what that wage is yet,but its HIGH , and along with that comes sick pay, holiday pay, bonuses, and the ability to actually make descions, and run things. I will have a crew of employees....... I would be in charge of PPM meters , CO2,irrigation, pest control, etc etc etc Keeping the bees happy, the white flys dead , and the predator insects fed.
I'm still in shock.
What are we growing you ask?? Tomatos , so there will be lost of "cross over knowledge" if you know what I mean ;)
Not only that, having experience at a place like this can "pave your whole future" as the guy interviewing me said, some of these guys make well over $100,000 a year.
Its not all about the money for me though, and thats part of the reason I am going to get a chance. (I've been told)
"I want a guy I can mold, someone I can teach, and then leave in charge......you have to be able to run things , and if the system fails, you have to be here right away,"..........etc etc etc......... "but everything else about this job is CAKE"
I will have to know it all, eventually......the boilers, the various CO2 machines(they have 3, and they all get their CO2 differently) , irrigation lines, PPM, etc etc....this is the job for me. )
I am still sort of in shock, I cant belive that at this age I will be put in charge of a 7 million dollar greenhouse operation, BUT, as I was told.........
"this location is NOT reality, if you worked at any of our other locations, you would get a basic apprenticeship ........check some growth, log some numbers, and go home after 8 hours"
"at this location, since its smaller"(but not small by any means)"we dont have as many people running the greenhouse, and YOU would be a boss, but with that comes responsibility, but if you can do it, and treat your employees well, while keeping the system running, we will pay you a wage, that reflects your efforts"
(Well over $12 an hour....and like I said, even when I work a short day, I get paid as if its an 8 hour day........as long as I get my work done, I am free to leave)
Wish me luck

Yes, how did you know?? (you freaking... smart guy)
I found that a little weird , but not unthinkable, as I was doing some grafting of my own days earlier...
I did my first Peyote to Pedro graft a couple of days ago.
