extending production time of cake

when a cake is near the end of it's rope, what would be a good way to extend it's life?

There are some teks...those that i'm not educated on. But you might want to case them. I supose that might help. I've only done it once a long time ago, when i realized that my cakes where done....so i tried it, and it worked for me. I got about 4 flushes from it. I think it was 4. Well good luck
