WBS casings
    #3964890 - 03/24/05 02:51 PM (12 years, 6 days ago)

How well does WBS work for casings compared to PF style verm/brf cakes? I've used the cakes for my last 3 casings and got ok results. I know a lot of people use the WBS with straw and poo, but I just wanted to see if anybody uses it for casings or if it's common. Any tips?.. the jars are almost ready.

:mushroom2:  You'd do better to use it as spawn for straw/poo, but it can be cased straight.  :mushroom2:

:mushroom2:  Use whatever casing mix you like.  I usually use 50/50 coir/peat with some crushed oyster shell.  :mushroom2:

verm/coir or verm/peat will work well, but I think a ph balanced verm/peat casing would work best.

John Doe mixed colonized WBS with with wet verm at roughly a 2:1 ratio, and cased in a 7 cup Tupperware with 3:1 verm/coir. It seems WBS is nutritious but has limited water capacity, so the verm adds a reservoir of water for it to draw on. A 2 inch substrate of this rez-effect casing, covering a little under 1/2 a square foot, yielded a tad over a dry Oz. from multi-spore, off it's one and only flush. Mess with the ratios as much as you want, good luck and keep Growing!
