Maybe people have enough opinion, they just don't express it well enough.
You seem more critical, maybe you could make a living being art critic. Is that lucrative?

Conclusion of this experiment: People need to give honest critiques on art or else any two bit hack with photoshop and a fractal filter will think they are frickin' Picasso.

Art critic? No.. I would get pissed off too much- any good art would also piss me off because I'd be stuck being an art critic and not an artist. Artist as life's calling ( as a direct contrast to a craftsman or someone who has art as a profession ) ? yes. Thats the reason I went against everything I've ever actually done and am working on a fine art degree.
im kind of like those economists who get pissed off when people profess amateur insights about the economy because they think they heard something about it, somewhere, sometime.

hmmm
why aren't you productive? Lack of ambition? if no, all it takes is practice. Anyone can learn the skill part of an art ( any art ) with enough practice or dedication- loads of natural skill just means you start off higher and learn faster. It's internal stuff like creativity, emotion, dedication or passion and thought that makes art good ( most people seem think it's technical mastery! How very very strange. )
If you don't have ambition, well, nevermind :p .. Maybe you need to find a life's calling in that case. I used to be absorbed in nonproductivity, but I realized I'd be in a mental hell if I didn't pursue what I feel I need to.. Took me a while to find out what it was, though.

I can't stick with anything for a long time, and I have trouble organizing my thoughts. If I smoke a bit, I can concentrate for a while, but I can't do things long-term, I get board easy.

Its art, it's just not particularay good art.
But being a negitive nancy constantly just adds more negitivity to the world.
There are alot of people that think they are grapic designers because the have spent 5 hours with photoshop while on some meth.
But I have seen these people turn in to much better artists.
So, would I ever pay for that, no. But would I tell you you're stupid and you wasted you're time. No. Because maybe that is the one peice of negitivity that keeps you from trying again.
I would just tell you that photoshop is best when you MAKE you're own filters procedurally. And that stock filters are instantly recognized by everyone that's ever used the program.

telling someone they're stupid and they wasted their time isnt a crit.... thats the kind of shit that gets you shunned if you're actually trying to be a professional
"honestly it looks like you just spent 5 mins with photoshop and the filters menu"
meh, something like that
I guess what I'm trying to say in a I-just-woke-up-from-a-shitty-nap-and-am-all-groggy-and-stupid kind of way is.... opinions are not crits.... and while they may be valid opinions.... they dont help anyone unless they're accompanied by some sort of info the artist can use.

That's silly. Art is subjective, and money isn't. This is typical art school snobbiness. This makes no more sense than saying that John Scofield is better than Miles Davis because he had a lot more training, and is much more educated in music history and theory.
There are people who learn their art history, refine their technical skills, graduate, and then go on to make a bunch of bland, pretentious crap. And there are people who are able to evoke strong emotions and thought with even basic technical skills and minimal academic study.

art is not entirely subjective, thats the problem. The craft part of art is entirely objective because it is physically real. Reaction to it is subjective . Stupid people react comfortably to stupid things, so... I guess you're right with that being subjective. There are stupid people just the same that there are stupid ideas and stupid reactions, thus stupid art exists. This has 0% to do with art school or learning about art, and I never suggested it had anything to do with it.
You yourself made arguments for using golden triangle theory crap to mathematize art, and now you're stepping backwards and calling art entirely subjective?

and? your point 100% useless in context of this argument, you're fighting something that's not there.

I did? When? I think you may have confused me with someone else.
If my comment does not apply in the context of this argument, could you please re-explain what the heck you meant here:
"im kind of like those economists who get pissed off when people profess amateur insights about the economy because they think they heard something about it, somewhere, sometime."
Also, explain what's wrong with presenting ideas in art?

Economics is a heirarchy of theory on how money works.
Art, at least in terms of craft, is a heirarchy of theory on how art works.
nothing is wrong with presenting ideas. But if that's all you have to show, you're wasting your time unless it brings personal satisfaction, at which point its your personal satisfaction which is important.

Who are the people who are presenting ideas through art without gaining any personal satisfaction that you're criticising?

no,
my point is that if personal satisfaction is the goal, it should stay there and not be put out as something great.
