I have bags, wbs, a impluse sealer and a pressure cooker can I make spawn bags? Can I seal the bags before the pressure cooker or what?

good question...what about those "self-healing" injector discs...where can you get those?

in my experience bags pop when sealed before cooking or stretch to shit if i remember correct.

Hum that sucks since I don't have a flow hood yet, I guess I could seal them inside a glove box?
The self seal injector sites are available on the bags, they just cost a shitload more.

good luck with a glove box, never had luck with them a flow hood is worth a thousand times its investment.

UNSEALED ----->Double fold top of bag(s) --> with bag lip on INSIDE of folds, wrap 3 rubber bands around each bag, to fold folds in place.
Fold wet towel on bottom & around inside of PC. Place bags in PC.
PC 90 / 120 minutes @ 15 / 18 lbs psi (you chose - but large volume of bags in a big PC should be PC'ed longer (IMHO). Like a bigger turkey takes longer to cook - than a smaller turkey).
Once done PC'ing..... allow to cool awhile in PC (to point bags are cool enough to handle - w/o oven mitts).
Move PC (full) to clean small room (bathroom usualy). Have heat vent closed, room cleaned & sanitized. Spray lysol. Remove one bag at a time, remove rubber bands from it, unfold folded top & QUICKLY IMPULSE SEAL BAG LIP.
That is how my FOAF used to do it, before he built flow/hood big enough to open AA 941 in.

i saw they (forget which web site) have bags that can be sealed b4 pcing
it'd be cool to try to find those "self-healing" injector disks for cheap and put them on yourself.

Ok whatever, I have the spawn bags with filter patch so they are presealable but it seems way better to seal them afterwards.
Just make sure you pressure cook them for long enough at the right psi.
ah I will try sealing them afterwards, before seems like they pop sometimes and I can't get the psi high enough with them presealed

If I am only doing a 2 or 3 filter/patch spawn bag run in AA 941. I preseal, as bags have room to EXPAND from internal steam - while PC'ing. If I jam PC full (tight), I don't preseal, as there is no room for bags to expand. Which can lead to some bags bursting - if sealed (even with filter/patch).

"self - sealing" injection sites on bags is (IMHO) pure bunk & sales ploy for newbies. All you do is INJECT straight through bag & seal tiny syringe needle hole with alc swabbed tape.
Not knocking them. But, why pay for them - when there is no need.

i just swab the injection point, inject the seal with masking tape or painters tape, it must be sterile since I dont' get contam's from that point ever.
I just noticed my probelm, my pressure cooker is only 10 quarts and as agar said above, I stuff it full then they have no room to expand and one will pop.

Great idea with the tomato paste can. I have spawn bags on my to do projects list and I was using a needlepoint ring thing, but it is only 1/2 inch tall. It is two slightly different sized rings that lock together with a screw thing, you know what I mean  Anyway, you can lock the plastic and polyfil down with the screw lock sorta, but I like the idea of the can so I can use rubber bands.
For my first attempt, I plan to put my whole PC once cooled inside my glovebox, along with a jar or two of colonized grain for a G2G. I made my glovebox out of a 95qt sterlite container, so it is big enough to actually open my PC inside it once the glovebox is closed. I have done all my G2G jar transfers in it, and havent had a single contam since I started. I did lose quite a few to too much moisture at the beginning tho hehe. I also got 3 different 1/2gal jars to fully colonize from G2G, so it shouldnt be much harder to colonize a spawn bag. Anyway, thanks for the can idea:)

In my experience the pre-sealable bags work well. I just do 2 seals and throw em in the pc, haven't had one come open yet.
