Never seen GREEN wheat straw (even after pasturizing).

Sounds like some alfalfa, or grass hay is in the mix (not a real good thing).

Have seen this before -- probably there was grass mixed in with the straw, but it all looks sort of similar when dry... Then it's rehydrated and the grass seems pretty green while the straw turns light brown. Should be fine as long as you've got a lot of spawn!
