good for casing?

hello there my friend is about to case for the first time and wanted some advice. on mushmush.nl it describes a set up that doesnt use perilite and relies on the moisture from the casings. my friend used perilite last time but it was for cakes, is it ok to go without for casings?? and hes not so sure about what to use for the holes could coffee filters be used, or maybe a window screen? also should the holes be placed at the bottom or top? big thanks in advance........

The casing tek you said about, i havn't read. When you say hole's i assume you are talking about hole's in your terr.? Well if thats the case i'll also assume the hole's are for co2 drainage. If so the holes should be near the bottom, since co2 is heavier then the fresh you'll be bringin in. You cab use cotton to plug up the holes.
If mushmush says no perlite, then chance's are you wont need it. I never use for humidity(i have a diffrent set-up), however I do have it at the bottom of my terr. just to catch what-ever drops my fall.

Whether or not you need humidification depends on the area of casing you have compared to the size of the enclosure you are using and any airflow you might have.

If you are using a sealed box I doubt you need any help from perlite. I use a plastic storage tub which is about 1 foot by 2 foot and a couple of small foil trays of casing takes it up to 98%. I have a a few holes which I can uncover for fruiting to try and get it to c.85%
