I use lava rock. Its cleaner, maintains really nice humidity with a bubble wand, and looks cool!

Yeah a bubble wand is just a flexable hose

what I'm using is like a giant blue bubble stone. A bubble wand can be either the traditional stone, about 12 inches long, or it can be the plastic tube. I'm just using the 12" and 14" stones cuz they are cheaper. Walmart 2.39 i believe.

The lava rock, I got 3 20 pound bags for 7.50 total at The Home Depot. It was perfect for 3 30 gallon Rubbermaid tubs. I am going to use those for cakes, and then one 30 gallon tub for casing, cuz i think i will be able to control humidity better in that little one.

I am using allot of lava rocks, just because i want the level to be a bit higher, it should create more humidity. In my dry runs, i got up to 100%RH in less than 6 hours, and maintained it for one week with no deviation. It sounds good to me. I used about 5 inch's of lava rock with water up around 2, 2.5 inch's. That way the bubbles blow wet water up onto the other rocks creating more humidity.

Don't waste your money on geolite, its just clay covered lava rock, its not really better.

BTW don't wash the stones in your sink cuz you break your disposal when rocks go down the drain and you don't know it....

I was just wondering.. Do you need the pump in the bottom.. I already have an air exchange system/humidity. I am just looking for a small boost in humidity, im not relying 100% on the rock. I was going to use perlite, but the shit is so messy...
