What is your idea of how a protest should be?

Very disappointedin the folks in my town. They're idea of solidarity against the bad leaders in our nation is juvenile, pathethically ineffective, and not very fun. I think this forum is nice because of the willingness to have real discourse. I seek out the unconverted to make revolution, not the choir - oh, and offering tea is very polite , as well.

Having a tea party with people won't change shit and if it did Martha Stewart would be the president and Queen Elizabeth would rule the fucking world. A protest should be organized down to every aspect to make it effective. Protests aren't meant to be a small discussion group or a little gathering. I'm down for throwing bricks into offices & burning down the cop precinct.

In my opinion political protest should be as dignified as possible. The Iraq war protests did jack shit because of all the ridiculous floats portraying Bush and Blair as baby-killers etc and making loads of noise and shouting a load of nonsense. True political protest, such as those in the Ukraine, Lebanon, and in the past with the poll tax protests and those in the USSR were done with genuine passion. Whereas the protests over Iraq seemed to be not serious or genuine at all.

peaceful. The second you break laws to get your point accross during a demonstration (ie: breaking windows..etc.) you lose all credibility in my mind.

We declared independence over 200 years ago. Me and my illuminati friends are trying to figure out ways to increase America's dominance in the world so we can become trillionaires, fuck being billionaires, we want to be super rich.

1. a good protest is one that does not entrench the opposition
2. I've never seen a good protest

Totally. If you believe in something, you should do more than take 30 minutes during your lunch-break to walk down the street holding signs made with the maturity of a 3rd grader (i don't mean to offend any 3rd graders).

Pffft!
What don't you amateurs understand?
Protest openly and loudly, but don't break any laws.
Sabbotage quietly and covertly later.

Gawking crowds... and signs are bit over used.
I believe that protests should have a more formal air to them
Maybe actually have a platform, and some sort of unification, beyond having all protesters carrying signs around and what not. Make it similar to holding any speech for the public, get a forum for communication, and communicate the points beyond picket signs.
Or we can all just wave signs all the time and waste time... perhaps better to get all the public representatives that can solve the issue at the protest and debate with those that have an issue with said reason to protest. Something a bit more meaningful maybe.
At least this way, you know that you're being heard as you're in the presence of those that have the ability to solve the dilemma, and moreso, you'll be able to see your tax dollars at work, instead of the typical pencil pushing, and sidetracking of an issue from afar.
It's more akin to Saudi Arabian type politics in way, of the elected officals giving a direct form of communication to those that they serve (kings/princes, et etal talk directly to those that have problems, via private meetings)... but for a group that take issue with a problem, this will prove to them that they are indeed heard, rather then the typical meetings where the elected official spends time one-on-one in his office shining you on... make them work for their money
