In the year 2525....
    #3956041 - 03/22/05 10:45 PM (11 years, 10 months ago)

Like the songs asks the question, I ask you now...

Will man still be alive?

If man isn't still alive, there will be no year 2525.

Yes, man will endure. Will Earth be relevant as a place? Possibly not. I predict that we will be exploring our nearest star systems by 2100.

I doubt it. Sure we'll have technology, but how long will it take
for someone to see interest in the project? Moon landing was a cold war race.

"but how long will it take

I predict the discovery of microbial life on Mars in the next 5 years will trigger an expansion of space exploration. The methane signatures found over moist areas and caves indicate such a discovery is coming.

Yes.

If woman can survive..  :jamming:  Great song.

I am an optimist. I feel man will overcome his obstacles with his god given abilities.

Of course the biggest thing man will have to overcome is himself.

Breaking news:
"Astronomers using the Spitzer Space Telescope have for the first time discovered two extrasoloar planets by directly detecting light from the planets themselves. Usually planets are discovered by indirectly inferring their presence from the wobble of star they orbit, but Spitzer has been able to directly detect these objects at Infrared wavelengths."

There is no way to know. If there is life on other planets, we must assume an evolutionary process such as ours. I think it's hit or miss if a world can make it through the violent, ignorance of a youthful civilization.

It doesn't matter though as there would be enough worlds that do make it to populate the universe.

I would say it doesn't look good for our beloved earth.

"Only if one loves this earth with unbending passion can one release one's sadness.
Alive to its last recesses it cured me of my pains and finally when I had fully understood my love for it, it taught me freedom." Don Jaun

Enter into a relationship with the earth. Power plants can show you how. Blessings

The important thing is not to stop questioning. Curiosity has its own reason for existing. One cannot help but be in awe when he contemplates the mysteries of eternity, of life, of the marvelous structure of reality. It is enough if one tries merely to comprehend a little of this mystery every day. Never lose a holy curiosity. ~ Albert Einstein

I'm with Jellric, i'm optimistic, but i'm not so sure that there will still be as many humans as today by then.

Ok, enough of destruction and all, let's talk about how life will be, not the state of the art things, but every day life, eating, walking, travel, relationships etc..
and let's follow the song to 3535 now...

_Fahrenheit_451_ and _1984_ both have elements that are ringing true these days.

We should be careful.

If I wanted to know what those people you mentioned think about the future, I'd go read their work, but guess what, I don't.
I came here to ask you people what you think.

I have my own visions and ideas, I want to hear yours

Who really cares what we all think the future will be like? It won't make what is actually going to happen any different.
