Haha thanks Dan. I don't think they are worth trying to ID even if they are Panaeolus subbalteatus I wouldn't want to eat 100 just to trip, LOL. I live in Tampa and yes I found them in cow shit. By the pounds I might add.

Yeah Ive seen what you have found. I dont know if there pans or not but thier not worth your time even if they are. I would just look for cubes and copes if I were you. What part of Florida are you in?

Mushroom Chris.

Where did you hear that you need to eat 100 Panaeolus subbalteatus to trip. Another urnban legend.

Pm. Subbs are very close and can be as potent as cubensis by fresh and dried weight. It can be four or five large shrooms weighing one fresh ounce or 20-30 fresh smaller subbs weighing one fresh ounce or more or three to five dried grams.

Even with cubes, it could be 40-50 small little shrooms or one large shroom weighing one fresh ounce or 3-5 dried grams.

And a tea is the preferred method in Oregon for Panaeolus subbalteatus.

mj

Yeah like i said I am not very familiar with the species. My friend told me he thought they were Panaeolus subbalteatus and I looked them up on the forum. I had heard you needed to consume a pretty large amount for a strong trip. I didn't literally mean 100 though . I just figured they weren't worth my time with all the cubes and copes around. Maybe I'm wrong though. Have you heard anything about the trip they would produce? I assumed I would have to make a tea but what is the recommended dry dosing? Also I am pretty sure they are Panaeolus subbalteatus but just in case they aren't are their any dangerous look alikes that I should research? Thanks MJ!

Damn some of you people are lucky. I have been keeping tabs on my local pasture and havnt found any traces of mycelium at all. but i did find alot of earth worms hidden in the patties. could they be the reason why shrooms dont grow profusely in early spring?

I took some non-active specimens from the field (not growing from manure), will ID them and make a log of where and when i found them. This will make it a little easier to determine when active species will grow next season. I have several pics if anyone would like to help me out; im pretty sure i found a species of Galerina, my brother showed it to me and said, "look its staining blue!" and i said' "thats black bro..."
(sorry for the rant)

We found a total of about 50 wet ounces of copes and a few subs. The only cube we found was this one little baby one growing right from the center of a hidden turd in the grass.
