COBWEB
    #3954997 - 03/22/05 07:25 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

does excessive moisture cause cobweb mold? does cobweb mold disappear when sprayed with water or wet?

i always see that picture of wispy cobweb mold half an inch off the cake but that has to be atleast a week and a half of cobweb growing. im trying to indentify it early on.

shrug

excesive water, no. Spores cause cobweb. They will disapear if you spray it but so will cottony mycelium. 99% chance that you do not have it. Its not as common as it seems. Your best bet is not to fuck with it and let it grow. If it is cobweb you will learn from it

Cobweb is very common where Im from. i think it depends on the location youre in and what time of year. cobweb spores float freely in the air.

Cobweb is very common where Im from too , cobweb is not as white as PC micilla it also grow super fine much finer that PC also in my experance it lands in teh top and starts growing there so if you scrap there surface you should not see it below if you get it early if it is good micilla it should be coming from the bottom if the tray and you will be able to tell the diff

myc is more rigid than cobweb so it wouldnt flatten as much but cobweb will certainly flatten

You wouldnt want to spray the mycelium with just normal water..It would have to be sterile.
The only thing you should spray on it is possibly h202 (if you want to kill cobweb)

If you were to spray anything on it it would be H202

Wha what?? Care to specify? Are you saying that the water in your spray bottle for misting a casing should be sterile water?

i dont use sterile water and have fruited with no problems. the water i sprayed was not sterile. im just wondering what effect water would have if it was mycellium!

Well fully colonized mycelium is more resistant to contaminants.. I was saying that you wouldn't want to just spray normal water onto colonizing spawn.

okay thanks for clarifying. i hope someone wants trying to case something that wasn't fully colonize. I guess you would only make that mistake once

I was just relaying information which i read about cold shocking (which i didnt properly articulate in my first post). I don't have personal experience.

Many growers do use h202. When spraying casings using 10% by volume.

I dont claim to be an expert or anything i was just trying to help/give my opinion
