First Time Fruiting - Do they look alright
    #3953871 - 03/22/05 01:45 PM (19 years, 11 days ago)

This is my first time growing. Im attaching a picture of the cakes. The ones with the red checks were put in on the 16th and the blue circles were put in on the 21st. Do they look alright so far. I dont see any signs of contamination. I had other pics but they all came out blurry. That big thermometer isnt staying in there. Im going to buy a smaller one so I will be spacing the cakes out some more. I hope I attached the picture right.

looks healthy, give them about 7 days and youll see some pins. remember that the mycellium will stop growing right before pins start to form so dont freak out when there is a hiatus in your white fuzzy growth!

Im having trouble getting the humidity above 80. I dont want to spray too much water since I dont want the perlite to start swimming in water.
Its puerto rican strain.

Is there a tight seal on the lid? Do you have an ultrasonic, somtimes if Im having trouble with humidity I will manually run ultrasonic inside growth chamber every time I fan them, and if you have a tight seal on the lid it should stay in there for hours

It may not be airtight but it is a new container so it is pretty tight. No I dont have a humidifier. Im just spraying the sides of the container and perlite with a water bottle.

Cakes need a little more humidity than 80% maybe try adding more water to pearlite, than stuff needs to be wet just not swimming, or invest in a humidifier, maybe try the one hippie chick bought at the pet store a few posts down from this one.

What are you checking your humidity with? I have a digital in one of my chamber's and just for fun I put one of those little cheap thing's you stick on the wall and it changes color, and a little round hygrometer that reads like a thermometer. Digital read 98%, stick on color changer read 90% and thermometer type read 82%. Your humidity might be alright. Perlite technique, and your set-up looks fine, normally will give you very close to what you need without much other assistance. Make sure you are getting an accurate measure of humidity before you worry about it.Good Luck. I picked up 2 more fogger's today.

Here is some updated pics. 3 cakes have begun to pin. Surprisingly one of the cakes that was put in a week ago has the most pins. There is a small cluster of them at the base of the cake. Sorry about the shitty pics.
