Heatingpad concerns

Its starting to get cooler out and I can no longer heat my terrarium with out the use of a heating device. I'm using a 1/8in cookie sheet upside down to keep it off the floor and setting the terrarium directly on top of the heating pad. The cookie sheet only gets warm; the floor underneath is 1/16in carpet directly on concrete (sp?) and being separated by 1/8in by the sheet stays only slightly warmer then the surrounding floor. While there is very little heat on the bottom it keeps the terrarium at 79 - 83 and 85F depending on the setting. Ambient temp is around 65-70. Also I've tried placing another cookie sheet on top of the heating pad but can only raise the temp to 75 this way. How safe is this? Fire doesn?t seem likely especially since the temps don?t get above 85F but would still like some input.
You approach the turnstiles and know that when you get there you have to give the man two dollars or he won't let you inside but when you get there everything goes wrong.

hehe...i'm trying to get help on the same thing -- i don't think pads are hazardous because of the heat they create -- i'm more worried because they're not meant to be on for very long periods of time so i'm hoping mine will work on a timer -- also i think pads are good at shorting out which is more of a fire risk than the actual normal use of one (sparks)

i have seen postings before that you can use a fish-tank heater in a quart jar of water inside your terrarium.

I use this lil number..... degree variance...a little spendy ... but hey, no worries and keeps those babies at a constant temp.... scroll down till you get to the "seedling mat thermostat" My jars colonize way faster and ... yeah winter is coming and it colds back there Has a probe that you just place in the terrarium and set your temp.. the heating pad plugs into the thermostat and shuts on and off ! Here`s the linkhttp://www.charleysgreenhouse.com/propgte5-mats.htm
?But I don?t want to go among mad people,? Alice remarked. ?Oh, you can?t help that,? said the Cat: I`m mad,Your mad.we`re ALL MAD!!!! hahahahaha"

I sometimes use a pad for germinating seedlings. It is made to be left on 24-7 and doesn't get above 85F.
