I've been reading a few of the teks and have a few questions.

Whats best to use? honey, malt? something else?

how long will it last once i inoculate it? does it expire/go bad?

is this a better way to knock up jars as opposed to spores?

dextrose, it willlast for months, longer if in the fridge, yes it is better as long as your culture is clean

health food stores, i think some grocery stores sell it. Its pure corn starch

What's the mix?  1 part dextrose to 1 part light malt powder?  :confused:

i like 1tsp of dextrose to 1 quart of water. I am sure you could use up to 4 tsp of dextrose but more is NOT better when dealing with sugar and mycelium

isnt honey mostly dextrose? how long will a honey syringe last?

I've found about a Tbsp per 250ml works well with karo. But I read some posts from Pris and Anno and Agar that they mix light malt extract and dextrose to give the myc a better food source than just dextrose alone.

Yahh, and I have found you cant screw the karo tek up, period. AFOAF did dozen karo light, and a dozen of karo dark jars. ALmost no karo to a ton of karo, and every one is growing.

(although the thicker ratios are growing very slowly, and took a week to germinate, vs 1 day on normal ratios)

Edit - you may also want to use an isolate instead of spores.
