fruiting
    #3948080 - 03/21/05 10:58 AM (12 years, 5 months ago)

I have a bright white mycellium network, no strands yet, it's been cultivating for about 45 days and no fruiting or pinheads yet. I'm using a B+ strain, this is my first time without any contamination. do I wait, or is there some other trick to begin fruiting?

Wow, you've got to be doing something wrong.

You need to post this in the Mushroom Cultivation forum. This is the wrong forum.

And if you post it in Mushroom Cultivation you need to be specific about your setup because no one can help you unless we know what you are doing wrong.

I'm using an autoclave bag with a vent. it's sterile. I inocculated it with a b+ strain in sterile conditions. the mycellium network is white and has consumed nearly all of the grain bag. it was birthed into light at 31 days. the mycellium continues to grow, but no pinheads. I took it out of the light in lieu of a drawer that is open only enough to allow enough light in to just see the bag. it's been in there a couple of days. I also added a light heat source (heating pad) near the bag. as of yesterday to maybe help start fruiting. the bag seems to have enough moisture in it. but what do i know... i just haven't opened it as of yet.

Then you are on day 14. Once you birth, the countdown starts over, you dont count colonization time, since that alone will vary and wont have anything to do (or little to do) with the pinning cycle.

The reason its been 2 weeks, is lack of pinning triggers. The three pinning triggers are, 10 degree temp drop, light, and most important, FRESH AIR! The patch will work ok, if they get light and the temp drop, but that is for the releze of built up gases. When mushrooms are ready to pop up in nature, they dont have a bag with a filter patch over them, they have unlimited fresh air blowing all up in them.

would you suggest removing the heat source? The usual temp is about 72 degrees.

you need a temperature drop to initiate the fruiting....but 72 degrees should be fine. what was the temp during colonization?

ok, i would suggest dropping the temp.....ive never grown out of a bag before, but what i usually do is put the colonized substrate in the fridge for about 12 hours before putting them in my chamber fro fruiting. im sure you could do the same, just stick the bag in the fridge for half a day and return it to its growing location. that should get those buggers to fruit.

So you colonized at 72 degrees and then you added a heating pad to fruit? Man, I'm done with this thread. You didnt read or research shit before you started growing and still arent. Cold shock will help, but actually reading to figure out what the hell your doing before you attempt it would help a hell of a lot more.
