Are the mycobags ready?
    #3947804 - 03/21/05 09:16 AM (11 years, 8 months ago)

Ok people, since today is bash the newbie day, I'm ready to stand up and take my shots. I could probably figure this out with a little research but I need to up my posts count. AFOAF has 3 grain myco bags ready to fruit, as of yesterday bags almost all white, except for a little shake on the bottom of the bags. Two B+ one PE. Should he wait a day or 2 or go for fruiting now? His plan is to go 12/12 lamp light and darkness? Is this ok. Remove bags from incubator, place in black plastic plant pots so most of light comes from above. Will be approximately room temp with some fluctuation of temp(in a crawl space). Gets in the low to mid 60's at night. Any criticism or suggestions??

your friend should wait an extra week before fruiting, mushrooms arent like plants
and dont need a light cycle, you can leave the light on for an hour and it's
plenty of time, as for the plant pots, worthless in mushroom growing, fruit
them in the bag

Sorry for the faulty info, He is not going to take out of mycobags. Place the whole bag in plant pot, just trying to keep fruit growing straight up towards the light. Will try to send pics, Still trying to figure out that digital camera transfer, Typical old fart, lack of technology skills

Covering with tape would probably be a better option...though in a bag, it doesnt really matter about exposing the sides, since there really arent any. You'd have mushrooms growing all over the bag, which after the first flush you can then just cut open to harvest them all over and throw it in a dark casing container. Throwing in a pot would work too I guess...just seems like a big bulky place for water to build up and contams to hide making things more difficult on yourself then needed. But it be your grow

I've got a similar bag about ready to go I think, all colonized cept for a few granuals of corn. It's 4lbs worth so I was I thinking of breaking it all up into a rubbermaid container and casing it....wouldn't i get more of a yield by doing it that way as opposed to just keeping it in the bag??
