I don't even have hard water but I use a brita. It sure won't hurt to have one, plus... they're nice for drinking too

I would follow up with a second method after the physical filtering...
Fill four soda bottles with the filtered water and allow them to sit open for 24 hours before use. If your water is that hard, then they are treating it with salts and chlorene... The strong minerals hide the scent of the chlorene, but testing at a pet store will show it is there.
Chlorene will disipate after about 24 hours when exposed to air.

uh huh
I fill up gallon jugs...and let them sit for 24 hours.
we have fluoride and chlorine in our water here.
I used to do the aquarium thing for a little over 20 years...and did water quality checks on my water...it was terrible for fish!~
Alot of times I'll get too stoned and forget to fill the gallon jugs back up. So I'll run up to the store and get some more water...the jugs keep piling up in my basement...lolzz
think someone would buy empty gallon water jugs at a yard sale this summer?

i don't know how hard our water is here, but i use tap water all the time. i always boil it for a good 10 or 15 minutes to make sure it's good and sterile, but i don't let it sit out. i figure if it's safe enough to drink it's probably not going to affect the quality of the shroomage, and the chlorine might even help in fighting contams.

Chlorine does help mildly with contams, but spores are contams...
(I have not tested with a double blind method for chlorine and spores, but I know that if I use tap on my WBS soak and use it for my BRF, prior to pressure cooking, results are more contamination and less colonization.)
Yes, I have been fighting with (Windows XP Pro Corperate Edition). That kept me off for a good month! It gave me time to play with my contamination experiments. Some-how, while I was sick, I ended up buying five slot machines and a giant hepa filter. I didn't need any of those things...
Want to buy a (2' X 4') 99.9995% hepa filter? My Giant Hepa Filter
How about a Pachislo "Skill Stop" slot machine with a 7" video LCD display?

Road...
I am getting scared!
Are you saying that I am the puppet? (You said that same line right after another one of my posts...)
Just curious, cause I did think that I felt something wiggle under me bum!

In the aquarium world, when people have hard water, they filter the water over peat, to make it less base. You could experiment a little with peat in your water.
