Those are metal lids, right? Yes, they should be PC able. Great jars, are they 1/2 gallon or 1 gallon?

Wouldnt it take an extremely long time for those jars to fully colonize? I thought there was an issue with larger jars running out of moisture before they reach full colonization.

You can do grains in a gallon jar. Have you done grains before, and have you ever made a filter top? <--2 things you'll need to be familiar with to tackle gallon jars.

If you have a PC big enough to hold a gallon jar? They work for WBS or Rye spawn, with 3/8ths hole in lid & tyvek filter under lid.
But, suggest you use about 6 or 8 ml of hot liquid culture to innoc with. If you use spore solution, colonization can get slow & sometimes stall, in that big a jar.

Liquid Culture is injecting spores into a liquid nute medium (karo, or light dry malt & dextrose). incubated, germinates & you end up with a jar of LIVE (hot) myc, since spores have germinated & are growing. Use search function to check out liquid cultures.

never seen a jar that was too big. I wanted to get a 1 gallon jar so i was at walmart and they didnt have them so i went to the food isle and they had pickles in 1 gallon jars. I was going to buy a jar for like 3 bucks buit i didnt want to waste the pickles so i went over to the area where they had flower vases and bought a big one for 5 bucks. Filled that fucker up with seed and some water and put a tyvek lid on it. It works great.
