water in jar

I started a "what will happen" project with some horse crap in a pint jar. myc is growing. but, i added to much water to the stinky so there is a little standing water in the jar.what is the best way to get the water out without contam probs. thanks for any input.

You can try to shake it up and mix the wet substrate with the drier portions. That's if it's shake able. Other then that, I can't think of a safe way to remove the extra water at this point.

o.k i think i'm gonna put the jar in a bag, then unscrew the lid and tip.does this sound like a good idea? should i use a kitchen bag or a big zip lock?

Unscrew it and tip, then what? You mean like pouring the excess water out? That might work.

Try to work in a ziplock or garbage bag, yeah. Use a disinfectant on all the inside work surfaces too. (alcohol, 1:10 bleach/water, etc)

If you have so much standing water that it will just pour like that though, I think your substrate is toast.

thanks for the feedback diver. luckily its only a 1 jar project. i'll poor out the water(about1/2 tsp) and see what happens. as long as we learn from our mistakes, right.
