Enjoyment
    #3942521 - 03/20/05 12:56 AM (19 years, 1 month ago)

It is hard to believe life is all for naught. Can't we take happiness when it comes?

There is admittedly a great deal of suffering and horror in this world. But if we are to accept life's sad parts, we must also embrace its good parts. As long as we are in this world, we must accept it all. If what comes our way is occasionally wonderful, no one should deny our enjoyment. We all know that every rise is followed by a fall. Why dwell only on dread of the future? As long as we have behaved responsibly, there is nothing wrong with enjoying the best of what life has to offer.

Look at a cat as she stretches out contentedly in the sun. There is no thought of the next moment, only the sheer enjoyment of the present. Rest assured that she will still be able to clean herself, still be able to catch mice, and still be able to do all the things that a cat must do. But she is without anxieties, and so she is purely and totally who she should be. She acts as if she were nature's favorite. And who is to say otherwise?

haha, ya it's funny to think that we could gain wisdom by observing and learning from animals. they're so good at living in the present moment and at not being worried about anything else than the moment.

its also funny to think that at one point in time we were animals as well and we were without anxiety like that cat, only we evolved to become humans and to become conscious of past and future (which brought anxiety), and after all that, evolution shows us that we need to find out once again what we once used to know when we were animals (i.e. living in the moment).

ahh, evolution and its funny ways  :smirk:

:crying:

Well, I suppose even giant spiders need to eat.

That cat could teach me a thing or two about making the best of the worst situations.

Our mind has a limited capacity when it comes to the number of things you can be conscious of at one moment. So we can't put the entire universe into our conscious mind. We have to filter and chose what to bring in.

There is a giant table after someone has eaten on it, and some plates have untouched warm food, others were half eaten, and there is all kinds of junk on the table. Some people just go around picking up the garbage and eating it, and saying how nobody should touch the warm food because the smelly leftovers are reality of the table.
If I were hungry, I'd go for the warm food that smeells good.

I asked my cats "What time is it"

They replied "Now!!"
