You cant over dehydrate mushrooms. I could take up to a couple of days if not longer to get them completley dry. It depends on what kind of humidity you have them at.

cracker dry (24 hours to 36 hours) Smaller mushrooms will take less time. I pull these out when done. It's my opinion that you can't overdry mushrooms - once the water is gone its gone.
95F is fine for heat I've dried at high heat and the mushrooms turned out fine. There is alot of debate about the illeffects of heat on plysibin. Im sure if you asked 100 informed people the asnwers would be split 50 - 50. I set my dehydrator at 90F. It works for me and i figure better safe than sorry.

I've dehydrated at as high as 120F and had no noticable loss, it still took 2 days to get them completely dry

I was asking if he had cracker dry results with the times he was drying them. I always dry at room temp with a fan on them.

The debate is by people that have never used a dehydrator before.
And they are talking out their ass!~
lolzz
There is no potency loss from using a dehydrator...period.

Check 2nd hand stores for American Harvest Snackmaster dehydrator's.
You can pick them up for $3.99 to $6.99 each.
I have found 4 this way.

Is it a good idea to slice the mushies before putting them in a dehydrator?
Why? Speed of drying, ease of grinding when dry, ease of consumption when dry?
Why not? Slicing affects strength, sliced shrooms degrade quicker?

I was thinking of slicing them into pill size pieces so that they can just be knocked back / springled onto a salad etc.

Do you cut up a t-bone steak.... before you place it on the BBQ?.
Slice, then dehydrate.
