WHAT TO DO!! So many options, no experience

Ok, this is the deal.. I am collecting everything I need to start my first grow.. Now, I am basically wondering about what i should use for fruiting.. I am going to have tops 10 cakes, chances are ill have 8, 4 of a strain i forgot the name of, and 4 B+.. I just ordered one of these http://www.petdiscounters.com/customer/product.php?productid=1059001&cat=266&page=
for Air exchange/humid and am wondering what you would recommend.. Should I go with a PMP like this.. http://www.shroomery.org/forums/showflat.php?Number=1303334 with the 2 airstones and Georock. Or can I just use the perlite and o would prolly add a little H202 to the perlite..--How much H202 would i need to add to the perlite to cover for a 20 gallon fish tank or so.--This option would be cheaper and much less of a hassle since i have to drive an hour to get the georock.. But if it is going to be better i will do it..
Oh, this grow has to be basically maintenance free.. Someone can check it once a day but thats about it.. Oh, another thing, does the light stay on 24/7 while fruiting, or should i go like 12/12? Thanks ALOT, This site has been amazing! -Helge

The PMP in that link is fine its the same thing i used for first grow. Also i used perlite instead of Geo and it worked fine. its a little bit more messy but i don't see a problem with it. also for the H2o2 use it about 10:1 Water:h2o2. then with the light i left mine on for 24/7 but it was only a night light so it wasn't very bright and did not heat the PMP up at all. but i would get as close to 12/12 as you can. later

Use a rubbermaid so that you can drill holes in the sides for the hoses, just like magash's pmp
Fish tanks= Unless you have a diamond tipped drill
That pump should do fine, i've got a similar one
If you get a humidifer then you won't need the airstones or the rocks....They're for humidity and air exchange...If what you ordered does both then you wouldn't want to run both....PmP alone will give you 99% humidity if you tweak it

Humidifer = humidity Perlite = humidity Geo-lite rocks + Airpumps = humidity
All of them By themselves will give you 99% humidity...
Only really need once, a foaf has a dead refrigerator and he uses and fogger and humidifer/o2 exchanger

Oh yea
Uhh...Get an ice cube tray and cut it in half horizontal wise...That will keep it off the ground and it'll keep water from building up around it.
You've got it under control

i sat my cakes on the lids for the first flush. after dunk-n-rolling it, i put them on top of tin foil. there is also another layer between my lava-rock/perlite and foil. i used the rubber thing that you put on dinner table so the plates wouldn't scratch the table. the reason i do that is that way my cakes wouldn't drown if i pour too much water in the tank.

Ok, sweet.. So IF the airexchange/humidifer thing that i bought for $20 keeps it in the 90's i dont need perlite? If so I would just do this.... http://www.earthstongue.com/site/388422/page/63251 --Fill the jar lids with vermiculite and dump h202 in, then drain the h202 out so it is moist.. Then set the cake on the verc filled jar lid...
Then should i set the jar lid on ice cup trays.. Or something to keep it off the bottom like you mentioned... I think i am getting damn near all the info i need to make this a damn good grow.. thanks - Helge

I have never used H202 and have never had any contam problems yet, and my house isn't that clean, I even dunk my cakes in Brita filtered tap water. IMHO h202 is just for those people who like to take that extra step, however H202 can kill Mycelium if you use too much. just MHO

i would suggest using half of the spores you have. save the rest incase your first grow turns out a flop. it happens. I over loved my first grow and killed it. doing a trial run with no batch or small grow will alow you to find out if what your doing is going to work or not. If what you have created isnt working and you have your grow inside that needs to be pulled out so you can modify your device to work can lead to unneccassary contamination risks.
As for humidity and air exchange pick one and give it a try. there are lots of ways to get what your after. i've changed what i use alot. and i'm going to change it agian next grow. the more you grow the more ideas you will come up with. not all of them will work but some are great ideas that keep you interested in the hobby. For me its more about the mechanics behind the hobby than the growing itself.
Good luck.
