should I pick them all?
    #394137 - 09/14/01 09:23 AM (23 years, 1 month ago)

Today I am harvesting a foaf's cases for him. There are alot of nice sized shrooms but tons more medium sized ones and very small ones. Should I just pick them all, cover in moist verm and put in a dark place for a week? Or will the small ones still continue to grow and produce mycelium over the next couple of days. It seems to me that tearing all the big ones out along with some small ones, substantial damage is being done to the mycellium. I waited until the biggest ones started dropping spores and then I figured I couldent wait any longer. I have done alot of reading, but this is my first time and I'm kinda pressed for time to make a decision. Otherwise I would have looked up the answer in the archives somewhere. Thanx.

pick the ones that are full grown- definitely. also, pick the ones that look like the veil would break today or tomorrow; but leave the ones that still look like big primordia (pins). but dont pull them out, i dont know what strain youre doing but just take a flame/peroxide steril knife and chop off the big ones as close to the base as possible, without ripping up the myc. mist heavily with water to get the second flush moving and youre set. eat a few too :)
