wow cakes smell.. or contam?

I was just dunking my cakes, and I took some out and whew, they don't have a sour smell but they have this funky smell. Also my cakes were really hard! is that a sign that they needed to be dunked?

cakes do have a bad smell to them and the mycelium does make the cake hard so it sounds like your cakes are fine

now when I come to it, the smell it still little in my room, it kind of smells like.....mushroom! lol.

Funky smell after dunking? If this is the case, so did a few of mine, but they were fine, second flushing right now. Hard before dunking? Yes, the mycelium does seem to get a rubbery like texture to it after fruiting. At least mine did. I scrapped this off lightly with a sterilized fork before dunking mine and they are doing great now.
