These are very basic questions which can be answered in the casing section:

Yes its safe to use a micro wave.

Yes get it pretty wet.

10 minutes..let it cool down...then 10 more minutes...then let it cool down really good.

Then make sure its cool.

Wash your hands good.

Then just squeeze out any excess water...you want it to be moist...not overly wet.

When you only get a couple drips of water coming out your hands...it's good to go.

No living thing can survive direct exposure to saturated steam at 250 F (120 C) longer than 15 minutes. As temperature is increased, time may be decreased. A minimum temperature-time relationship must be maintained throughout all portions of load to accomplish effective sterilization. Exposure time depends upon size and contents of load, and temperature.

Microwaves - the nonionizing radiation of microwaves produces hyperthermic conditions that disrupt life processes. This heating action affects water molecules and interferes with cell membranes.

Microwave sterilization uses very low-pressure steam with the nonionizing radiation to produce localized heat that kills microorganisms. The temperature is lower than conventional steam, and the cycle faster.

Time depends on your microwave, as they are not all created equal. Some are only about 400 watt, others range up to 1250 watt. So - some heat slower than others.

My foaf has a 1000 watt & fills PP bags with casing mix (hydrated to feild capacity), with rubber band fairly tight around the bag neck (holds in moisture & any stream). Nukes about 2.5 minutes .... four or 5 times, turning - flipping - repositioning bag after each 2.5 minute run.

Frigging bag is so HOT, you better use oven mitts to pick the sucker up. Allow to cool to room temp & you are good to go.
