    #3932894 - 03/17/05 11:24 PM (12 years, 3 months ago)

its dying it looks like shit, its just turned autumn but the weather is still fine just a couple of degrees cooler. the top has been snapped off in the wind which is a bit of a bummer but it was still hardy as. but in the past week its been raining and left outside, the leaves are dying and starting to wilt and drop off. what can i do?

North OZ or Southern? just curious

a hothouse might be a good idea for the autumn/winter period, just to keep the temperature up (or maybe bring it indoors). Keeping them out of wind is critical too i hear.

hope all goes well.

The temps aren't low enough yet to be causing any damage (unlikely they will ever be anyway). Maybe try something like seaweed extract or carp emulsion on them, I personally don't use any inorganic fertilisers on them because mine are picky. If it's in full sun bring it under partial shade until it looks like it's picking up.

Failing that, try to make as many leaf cuttings as you can :frown:

BorgFace, can they be propagated through leaf cuttings like psychotria?

Do not take cuttings at this stage because they will surely die. They do not propagate from leaf cuttings anyway and are hard to propagate under the best of circumstances. It's normal for them to drop leaves. Are you watering it regularly? It needs frequent watering. It can not take temps down near freezing so it will have to come in. I would not fert it at this time. Keep it indoors with some light for the cold months and in the spring look for it to start growing again.

“A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largesse from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising the most benefits from the public treasury with the result that a democracy always collapses over loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship.” (attributed to Alexis de Tocqueville political philosopher Circa 1835)

Don't wanna discourage you, but the same happened to my plants(3!!). I kept them indoors, always 19-21 degrees C, gave them enough water but the leaves turned black and curled (starting from the outside)and fell off.
After a week or 2 the stem starts to die slowely.
I hope I'm wrong...Good luck
