AVIANO AIR BASE, Italy ? A 31st Aircraft Maintenance Squadron senior airman was fined $5,000 and reduced in rank after pleading guilty to several drug charges at a court-martial last week, a base spokesman said.
James C. Imler pleaded guilty to conspiracy to possess and/or use marijuana, wrongful use of marijuana and psilocyn and possession of 8 grams of psilocyn, a hallucinogenic chemical found in some mushrooms.
The Air Force declined to release Imler?s age.
Charges of possession of marijuana, hashish and seeds containing tetrahydrocannabinol were dismissed before the hearing, according to 2nd Lt. Lea Ann Chambers, a base spokeswoman.
Imler was arrested June 19 in Germany with another servicemember, Senior Airman Mohammad Odatalla, who was sentenced to 10 months? confinement, fined $8,230, reduced in rank to E-1 and given a bad-conduct discharge after pleading guilty to various drug charges last month.
