i was wondering something about casings...can you crumble the cakes and wait a few days before covoing them without hurting the myc at all??? what are some benefits of not covoring(top casing layer) right away (if there are any)?

Yea I've known people to do this to allow the mycellium to network back together before casing.

Just make sure you cover it with al foil or saran wrap or something to keep it from drying out.

I find that if you let the substrate heal from the damage caused by breaking it up for a couple of days before you case them, they are less out to contaminate. I do the same thing with wbs casings.

Should work if you have the humidity high.

EDIT:: No air exchanges, though. Would initiate pinning. No light either.

Start air exchanges when the mycelium is poking through the casing.

Cubies like 1-3 air exchanges per hour, but you can get away with fanning twice a day or so.
