Appalachian Trail!!! (Pictures)
    #3931195 - 03/17/05 05:54 PM (12 years, 8 months ago)

I'm stoked...  me and two buddies are goin up for 4 days sat-tuesday for spring break.  I havent been on the AT since August, I'm really excited for this.  Plus we'll probably be trippin out there off Palenque mushies, which I haven't done on the trail yet.

I'll be bringing a camera, so expect pictures when I get back.

"Six words: drop out, turn on, then come back and tune it in -and then drop out again, and turn on, and tune it back in-it's a rhythm- most of us think God made this universe in nature-subject object-predicate sentences-turn on, tune in, drop out- period, end of paragraph. Turn the page- it's all a rhythm- it's all a beat. You turn on, you find it inside, and then you have to come back (since you can't stay high all the time) and you have to build a better model. But don't get caught - don't get hooked - don't get attracted by the thing you're building, cause... you gotta drop out again. It's a cycle. Turn on, tune in, drop out. Keep it going, keep it going- the nervous system works that way. gotta keep it flowing- keep it flowing.

I'm gonna be hiking in the homestate... pa. We were gonna go south to Virginia, but my car is too risky to do that with.

I think its section 6 of Pennsylvania. We're starting at a town in a gap called Port Clinton, and ending at a shelter, from which we will then retrace back a few miles on the fourth day to a parking lot where my friends car will be waiting.

If you're looking for a good spot C20, I would check out the most northern section in Pa that runs into NJ. On the border line of Pa and NJ the trail runs through a place called Deleware Water Gap. There are rhododendron all over the place there and tis just a really beautiful section to do.

Well, here's some pictures. We only went for 3 days because the last day had very little mileage and a friend had some "fruits" to attend to. I didnt take as many pics as i wanted, but i'll be out there again before i know it so its no big deal.

The first day was pretty nice. It was in the 40s, nice and warm when youre walking. We started on the north side of the mountain, walking through snow. My feet got soaked in the first 2 miles, shitty, but ive been there before and its still fun as hell. There wasn't as much snow on the southside (more sunlight hits that side of the mountian). We stayed at a campsite in a tent that night, with cold weather and rain the whole night. However, i explored a little while the sun was up and found a beautiful little waterfall comming out of a pool. It was a great meditating spot, all you could hear was water... very "mystical" place.

All of these are the First Day:

2 friends at an underground pipeline

rhododendron and its flower

Theres more pictures to come (shouldve uploaded them first because I think they're better), ive just exceeded my uploading limits for today. I'll write about the second day then too, which i only have pictures up to because the camera batteries died.

i love the AT, only part i was in so far was NJ. I plan on walking the entire AT a couple years down the road. The woods are such a peaceful place to be.

It wasnt bad in the daytime, when i was walking. At night it got pretty damn cold though, and theres definately a decent amount of snow up there that has yet to melt.

Cool! I've done the AT mostly in Tn/Va/NC/Ga. I've always wondered what things looked like up north...
