Blue Meanies ?
    #3927515 - 03/16/05 07:41 PM (19 years, 16 days ago)

I think this is a blue meanie (Copelandia cyanescens).

It was found in a mound of horse shit. It's white(although it looks yellow in the pic), it has a yellowish stem, and Grayish-Black Gills. Sorry for it being torn up...my buddy looked at it and told me it "fell apart". It's isn't really bluing, just bruising a dark color.

Thanks in advance.

Tyler

Well, it looks like it, and I feel weird saying this cause I'm new, but shouldn't you have posted print info?

Looks like Panaeolus antillarum

Copelandia cyanescens will stain blue about 95% of the time.

I'd agree with Panaeolus antillarum or another species of unactive Panaeolus.

it doesn't look like its bruising at all pinch it and see if it blues up...I been finding lots of copies in my field right now...where theres one there's ussually more.I see 3 to a cluster commonly.they ussualy grow under the higher grass on top the shit or from beneath/beside it.I have been finding non active alot mixed right in with them. The really easy identifier though is the blue staining...only takes about 45 seconds to happen, right before your very eyes=)

I found they grow ussualy a little earlier than cubensis and the temps have just been warming up...Its still a little chilly at night so these are coming first(grows at 68-85F from my understanding).

You'll know it when you find copes.

If they aren't handled with extreme care they will bruise insanely.

Check out the rain drop bruises on this copelandia.
