Not clear on a few things
    #3930785 - 03/17/05 04:10 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

Hi,

I am a first time grower and trying the pf tek method. First off I never have read on here that humidity is necessary during the incubation phase just around 70 degree temp. Is humidy necessary in this phase? Also I was wondering about air exchanges. If you use an air pump that constantly exchanges air, how can you have a high humidity.

I have been trying perlite in a 10 gallon plastic container and I can only reach 85 percent humidity. Can perlite do better?

Thank you

Try incubating at 85F if possible, as for humidity, a little does speed growth during incubation, but if this is your first time growing, and your not using a heatpad, dont worry about it.

Just keep those jars warm, and dark.

"Also I was wondering about air exchanges. If you use an air pump that constantly exchanges air, how can you have a high humidity."

Its a balance, when you fan, you mist, or, if you have an automated setup, when the mister is done(or running etc) the fan runs, or the airstone is on 24 / 7.

There are quite a few options.

like a bubble wand hooked up to a fishtank air pump, disperses very fine air bubbles when underwater, this provides air exchange and some humidity..peace p3k!!!

Airstone means if you're using a fish bubbler setup. Air pump connected to tube connected to bubbler stone in a container of water.

Im using a heatpad it keeps it around 82-84F but should I worry about the jars drying up or any thing?
