Time and Potency, related?

Which are more potent, freshly dried mushrooms? Or dry mushrooms that has been preserved for a long time. So, I guess what I'm asking is, do dry mushrooms lose potency as time passes by?

I could just tell you to read the faq but Im in a good mood right now. Drying decays alot of the psilocin that is present in fresh mushrooms so yea fresh are more potent, but dry still has more of the chemicals per weight because fresh mushrooms are 90% water. Peace newbie

in a book i have it says that if the mushrooms contain both psilocybin and psilocin that the psych part of the mushroom decays more rapidly than mushrooms that contain psilocybin alone. so the book says that they decay over time no mater what but psilocybin alone decays slower than a mixture of the 2
