Breathing walls
    #3927404 - 03/16/05 07:23 PM (19 years, 7 days ago)

Seeing the walls breathe is one of my favorite parts of a mushie trip. I get this effect on roughly half of my trips. It typically occurs for me during early- to mid-flight. I'm always very excited to see the walls start to bend, but sadly, this marvelous experience always wanes back into the trip after a minute or three.

What I'm wondering is if anyone has tips for inducing, extending, or amplifying wall-breathing. Is it more prevalent for walls with specific textures / patterns? Does smoking marijuana have any positive or negative effect on breathing walls? Is it (*gasp*) a lift-off-only phenomenon?

Exact opposite, take a low dosage. i took like 1.3 grams one time and all that happened was i felt euphoric and the walls breathed a lot throught the whole trip. it was nice

I would agree with wild runner. Ive never seen walls breathe on anything lower than 3.5 grams, so Id have to assume that theres some correlation there

I always see walls flow rather than breathe, like they are really liquid.

if you are seeing breathing walls half the time you ingest mushrooms, methinks you trip half the time you eat mushrooms.

I heard nitros just warps you for a couple minutes... nto shure if it would induce wall breathing. But yeah wall breathing and pattern making is definatly the funnest part for me.

Once I've seen that on 5 gs of potent shrooms. Can't quite describe what it really looked like... it was fuckin nuts.

My first time on mescaline it was like no surface was solid, all was fastly moving liquid like running water.

Look at wooden surfaces. The grain comes alive and all sorts of things manifest in it.

I also enjoy watching wood-grained surfaces during a trip. :yesnod: Now that you mention it, most of the breathing I've seen has coincided with wood paneled walls.

Very interesting stuff, I may have to experiment some next time I trip.

It can happen on any surface you put under your vision. Wood to wall to poster to movie to painting. It all flows, it all moves with the power of the starmaker.

Breathing walls are great, that's during the shitfaced-grin phase, where you wander around and cannot wipe the huge stupid smile off your face.

This is when it's painfully clear to everyone that your "on something"

went to the bathroom once while on a high dose (took about 15 minutes to get to the bathroom which was only 10 feet away) there was a wood grain closet door immediately opposite the toilet.  I sat down and there was an Indian's face on the door.  I just sat there and talked to him for about a half hour or so.  One of the most intense trips i've been on. :mushroom2:

Sorry, didn't mean to hijack.. the talk of wood grain just reminded me of it and I felt the need to share...

in my experience...lower doses get things breathing and higher doses get things melting.

I looked at a bathroom wall on my highest dose ever and the walls looked like cascading water...same with the multi colored towels.

at that point things were too intense so not very enjoyable. i prefer the walls to breathe than to melt.

i have never done shrooms, but one reason i really want to try them is to see walls and other things melt. Breathing sounds cool, but really want to see them melt. I dont know why, but as soon as i heard about melting walls, i have been facinated by them.

it's interesting. however, it is hard to enjoy if you are so confused at the time that you don't know which floor of the house you are on or how to get out of the bathroom...even though you know the house very well.

Haha that perfectly describes the first bit of first 5 gram trip. I find I always get them on higher doses. Also, Ive noticed bumpy or more textured walls work better than just a plain one. For me though, I find the breathing more fascinating on the onset and first couple hours of a good trip..later on it almost becomes normal and a background thing as there's so much going on in your head..still amazing though.

Those spinning black and white pinwheels have a very similar effect for a few seconds...try it out!  Pinwheel
