No harm in just letting it fruit, you've got nothing to lose.

Good luck!

Peat moss needes a pinch of lime for making it work well for a casing material. Just watch out for trich.

Should I redo the casing with the co co coir? Should I throw it out? Or should I just let it fruit?

Let them go as is and note the results. Look at it as a learning experience.

So is it better to let a peat based casing unbuffered fruit...or (if no primordia yet) scrap it off, and reapply a coir based casing...

What's up Shroomguy. I had a hell of a time finding coco coir also, and I live in a city of 200,000. Finally had to order it on line. As far as what to did with your casing's now, I would think you should just let them fruit and recase after your first flush, but if I were you, I'ld wait until you got some advice from some of the more experienced people on here and see what they say, you know who they are. Also saw some of your pics of your first cakes, sorry your shrooms were so small, but they looked good. Way to go. Peace,Love,Happiness and Harmony. :heart:Hippie Chick :mushroom2:

It looks like it will be fruiting soon. I'd just give it a mild bleach misting to sweeten it up some. That will help ward off bacteria and molds that inhibit fruiting. But next time always buffer peat. Just MHO. Be easy on me. LOL

It's $2.50 a brick. A brick makes up about 1.5-2 gallons of moistened coir. More along the lines of 1-1.5 really.
