i strive to understand where everyone and everything came from. It never made too much sense to me that god made everything with just a snap of a finger.

well...
if'n ya have a chance, & yr local PBS station will showe it, check out the late dr carl sagan's totally excellent TV series _COSMOS_
there is an very fine companion book, & i think that some PBS stations will offer the series DVD as a membership premium (usually presenting their spiel for $$$ while showing a 2-hour condensed version from the original 13-part series...)
yeah, dr carl was an astrophysicist, but he had a wonderful way of explaining science in a palatable way for your average interested layperson...

i'm thinking of majoring in biology. biology is really cool, and it makes it even cooler when you think of how many people in the past would have loved to learn all the stuff we know today.

Just graduated w/ Masters in Biology. I've had nothing but fun since I took this path. I've worked with sea turtles, I've worked in the Everglades, I've worked with different sea turtles. I scuba dive, and know what's going on with the reefs, blah blah blah.

I love it. It really makes me feel like one with a greater system.
But the more I learn, the more I feel alienated from other people, and dissapointed with humanity's ignorance to these things.

I second the suggestion for anything Sagan- his Cosmos series, his books.

Get a subscription to Natural History magazine. It's the "popular science" for biology. A really good read.

i'm a bio/chem major... i find it all interesting how when you get down to it one cingle cell does so many things and has so much going on around it, and these cells doing so many thing create one bigger working organism. it's all so complex... Biology is def a good subject if you like to know what's going on around you in extreme detail... plus i like doin labs

GOOD LUCK ON THE EXAM!!!
It's not hard, just time consuming.

Anyway, NOBODY majors in Biology to get work in the field to make money. It just isn't there. Starting, out of college w/ bachelors you'll make about $30k/year. With a masters, about $35k/year. After years of experience, the best I generally see is about $75-80k/year. GENERALLY! Some make more, some less. You get the point- you aren't going to get rich (unless you become a dr.), you do it because you love it. I love it.

The notable exception is Doctors, but I am talking about biologists, and even though they technically are biologists, I'm talking about everybody else!

i just came back, i had to walk to different stations and identify parts of earthworms, mushrooms, flowers, trees, cells, pigs, humans, protists, fish etc etc...Theres soo much information i need to know. im not too sure how i did on that. i also had a written test which i think i did much better on.

money is not my main priority for being in BIO. i just want to make sure i will be financially stable for the future. i think being a DR is a good job because not only will you be financially stable, but you get to help people too.

Well, I'm sure you identified all the mushroom parts correctly!

You will certaintly be financially stable if you become a DR., but that is no small commitment.
