Pinning Problem In The Jar!!!! Help.
    #3921337 - 03/15/05 04:21 PM (11 years, 8 months ago)

Yikes. I'm doing my first grow. I'm using PF Tek. I have 1 of my 9 already fruiting, and the rest are nearly done. But 2 of the jars are pinning. I was told to wait for them to finish, but the are going so slow and the pins are growing real fast. They are getting big. The part that isn't finished is the very bottom, and I turned it upside down and everything.

Can I either do soemthing to speed completion, or can I birth it now? Would it contaminate if the very top wasn't colonized? What would happen?

One other thing... about how long does a mushroom (or a full flush) take to come to maturity from a pin and do they do it simultaneously or what?

Thanks for all the help,

Z

You COULD birth the jars and remove the bottom uncolonized portion. This does lead to a higher contam risk, so if you do this, be extra careful in monitoring these cakes.

Only thing you can do to try to spead up colonization is turn them upside down, remove the tape covering the holes, or loosen the lid a bit.

As for your last question, it has been my experience that the time elapsed from a pin to a fully mature mushroom is 5 - 7 days.

Gl bro!

Dude, so what do I do about primordia that point down when I birth a jar? I've got a few that stick almost into the perlite and hang off the edge of the jar lid I've got them on... stupid mushrooms ^_~ !

If youre seeing primordia, then you really really have to remove the cake and take out the uncolonized portion.

How come? What will happen if I don't though? Will they rot or something? There's just a little to go... but should I take it out right now and risk it? Or should I leave it another day or something to finish? And I definitely love my mushies... I was just teasing them *wink*!
