hyphae to pins, how long?

I got my first hyphae today! They look just like I heard them described, like little white dreadlocks! So how long will it take these to turn into pins?
Also, does 24/7 lighting as opposed to 12/12 really make that much of a difference? I'd rather just leave it on so I don't forget, cause I'll never be able to remember to turn the light on and off, and would make it all inconsistant.
thanks!

Yeah, I guess that would be the best idea.
So what about my hyphae question? or is this one of those things where it depends on the strain and the conditions and blah blah blah?
And also, there is only one little cluster of hyphae on my casing. I'm guessing that more will form as there are little bumps of fuzzy myc that i'm guessing are primordia. Am I right or am I just going to get this one little cluster?

Yeah, make sure you change from light to dark. I'm not sure if it matter before you get pins (probably does) but once they start growing they seem to grow much faster in the dark. At least that is my experience. Once I get pinning I usually change my lighting to around 10 hours light and 14 dark and it seems to work for me. However I just do cakes. Have not done casings yet.

As soon as spores germinate you have hyphae and yes strain/conditions make all the difference GL
-------------------- Getting the most out of your casings!, A pinning strategy. Oyster Shell "Flour" $2 for 1lb. a hell of a deal Not what is overlay but rather what overlay is Gas Exchange vs. FAE "We all have priorities. I used a closet once setup a nice little lab trouble was all the shit that was in there ended up in the bedroom that pissed off the GF then I ended up dumping her as she was getting in the way of my sterile culture technique! Ya I got priorities too!!!"

Hyphae dont turn into pins, primordia do. Hyphae just grow in humid conditions...
How long before primordia? Dont know, sorry, as said..depends on strain/conditions..

Oh, I thought hyphae were the little dreadlock looking things and primordia were lumps of fuzzy mycelium that were about to string together to form the dreadlocks and then pins.
Is there a glossary with pics on this site somewhere? I hate sounding like a dumbass...
Yeah, you guys are definitely right about the light. I turned it off right after I got an answer for this thread last night and turned it back on when I woke up. There are like two or three more little clusters of dreadlocks!! What a difference!! I had the light on before for like two days and didn't see any change!
You guys rock! Thanks a shitload!

Upon a 3 second search of the site (using the google search here: http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/3168 ) of primordia pictures..it brings up the first link of this:
http://www.shroomery.org/index/par/23405
Learning to use that google search you can find the answer to just about any question you may have or anything you may want to know so please do In the meantime, the second link has a good picture of primordia turning into pins at the bottom.

I tried typing in just "primordia" or "hyphae". I didn't think of putting the word "pictures" in there too.
Thanks for the link! So I guess I have hyphal knots! Not quite primordia yet, but shouldn't be long i guess.
