ummm, im not sure you can seperate the cheese from the love song. Songs i have burnt onto cd for chicks consist of Jeff Buckley, Portishead, Lovage, and Dispatch. I think you should check out the band Dispatch, they do pretty good at taking the cheese out. CHeck out the songs "bang bang", and "two coins".

I like the dead song "standing on the moon", probably would get good responses if you put this in the pub.

"All you need is love" Beatles
"Desperado" Eagles, its sort of a tragic love song I guess.
"Something" Beatles, YOU HAVE TO HAVE THIS SONG ON YOUR CD.
"Pride and Joy" Stevie Ray Vaughn, nuff said
"Can You Feel the love tonight" Elton John, yea hes gay but he writes damn good lyrics.
Ill try and think of some others.

ooh yeah... Beatles are great.... I am also gonna add 8 Days a Week (almost too hoaky... but I think it's a great song).... and also Pink Floyd - Great Gig in The Sky... there are no lyrics... but that woman's voice is so overwhelmingly emotional and soulful... it really reminds me of Sarah... (which is why I will add Lucky by Radiohead too... "Kill me Sarah... Kill me again,., With Love" )

Thought you may like some retroactivity. Here's my suggestions. One is completely full of shit. The others, are great songs. DL 'em all to find the joke!
Whiter Shade of Pale: Procol Harum
Oh Yoko: John Lennon
Dream a little Dream of Me: Dean Martin
Fly Me to the Moon All the Way: Frank Sinatra
Love Me Tender: Elvis
I Used to Love Her: Guns & Roses
Satelite of Love: Lou Reed
The Wedding Song: Peter Paul and Mary
